2LT Barbara J. Crookshank arrives and is assigned to Wards 5 & 6 under Head Nurse CPT Peter Blake and Chief Nurse LTC Elizabeth Starkey. A comment from Barbara:
When I arrived at the 24 Evac Captain Peter Blake was head nurse on Ward 5 &6. He was from North Carolina. He DEROS'd at Christmas time and called my parents for me when he got home to let them know I was okay. I Went with him to the Loon Foon Restaurant for his going away party and the owners gave him a grand dinner and we had real rice wine. I still have that blue bottle-the contents were poured out at customs many years ago since the wine was a Red China product.(Source: Barbara Crookshank)
