Summary - 1967

The 24th Evac began accepting patients in January.  The personnel assigned at the time included 30 doctors, 60 nurses, 8 administrative officers, 1 warrant officer, and 225 enlisted personnel.  The 24th began the year with 200 beds, but expanded to 400 by year's end.

In its first year of operation, the 24th Evac treated 9,010 patients.  Over 5,900 received surgical care and 3,000 patients received medical care.  Of the over 9,000 patients, 1,400 were evacuated back to the United States and 2,400 were transferred to in-country medical facilities.  Approximately 3,782 were returned to active duty.

The 24th Evacuation Hospital received its first Meritorious Unit Citation for the year 1967. (Source: Lest We Forget Part II - Barnett & Foss)
