Summary - November 1972

The 24th Evacuation Hospital (Semi-mobile) ends its service in Vietnam.

November 10 or 21

There are conflicting dates as to the closing of the 24th Evac.  The date for "departure" is listed as November 10th (Vietnam Order of Battle, Stanton), but the date for inactivation is listed as November 21st (Lest We Forget Part II, Barnett & Foss).  The most likely explanation is that the hospital personnel were gone and the buildings turned over to the Vietnamese on the 10th, but the "paperwork" wasn't signed until the 21st.

It is believed CPT Hammond MSC was the American who turned out the lights.

November 11

Long Binh Post is turned over to the South Vietnamese.  (Source: The Vietnam War Almanac, Summers)
