Summary - July 1966

July was principally a month of arrival, moving, setting up - and getting used to the heat.  The organizational activities were overseen by the 24th's Commanding Officer  LTC Donohoo, Executive Officer MAJ Hazel Green, and the First Sergeant, 1SG Richard "Dick" Scoggins.  (Lest We Forget Part II.  Barnett & Foss)


July 10

Arrival of the main body of personnel on the UNS Wiegel at Cam Rahn Bay.  Immediately airlifted to Bien Hoa Air Base, then moved to the hospital's new location on the large U. S. military base at Long Binh. (Source:  Lest We Forget Part II.  Barnett & Foss))

Some of the personnel include Tim Morton, Fritz Ruben, Mario Nunez (a draftee from Panama), Marsland-Sullivan (first name unknown, and a draftee from Great Britain), and Cliff Sanders. (Sources:  Tim Morton, Fritz Ruben)

July 20

Equipment and vehicles arrive at the port of Saigon.  Within 48 hours, the entire unit is at Long Binh.
