Summary - November 1966

November continued the construction efforts. Many of the enlisted personnel with medical MOSs work two to three days per week at the 93rd Evacuation Hospital, then came back to the 24th to work on the various construction projects.

The frames seen in this photo are to be covered with a GP Medium tent.  This structure allows for screen doors, floors, and other additions making for a much more inhabitable place than a bare tent.  A guard tower is in the foreground.

November 1966 (Date Unknown)

While visiting the 3rd Field Hospital near Saigon, the hospital Executive Officer, MAJ Hazel Green, received minor shrapnel wounds to the abdomen during a mortar attack.  Not content, the VC launched another mortar attack just as he was placed on the operating table at the 3rd Field. (Webmaster's note:  This incident has been reported by two people, but there is no date of the occurrence.  It is believed that though MAJ Green was not the only person assigned to the 24th Evac to be hurt, he was the only person awarded the Purple Heart as the injuries were due to enemy action.  Additional information would be appreciated.)
